Spelling Regular Verbs

SPELLING 
REGULAR VERBS 
RULES
  
If the verb ends in CONSONANT + Y, change the Y to i and add –ED

- Try:  Tried

If the verb ends in VOWEL + Y, just add    -ED
 
          - Play:  Played

If the verb

Has one syllable and

Ends in Consonant-Vowel-Consonant (C-V-C)

Double the last consonant and add –ED

Stop  Stopped

Don’t follow this rule with verbs ending in

  X-Y-Z-
