The pronunciation depends on the final sound that the verb has on its base form.
- Pronounce /t/ after voiceless consonant sounds: / f, k, p, sh, ch, s, x /
- Pronounce /d/ after voiced consonant sounds: / b, g, j, l, m, n, r, v, z / and after vowel sounds /a, e, i, o, u /
- Pronounce /id/ after /t/ and /d/
Note: a voiceless sound is when there is no vibration in your throat and the sound comes from the mouth area. A voiced sound produces vibration in your throat because of the usage of the vocal cords.
The following video explains how to pronounce the -ed sound of each verb and has an oral practice. Do it!
